Disk Digger can recover deleted files from most types of media that your computer can read: hard disks, USB flash drives, memory cards, CDs, DVDs and floppy disks. While it is not possible to scan a microSD card directly without first transferring the data into your personal computer first, you can also use Disk Digger for Android to recover data from an Android device using a microSD card.

DiskDigger has two modes of operation which you can switch to every time you perform a scan. The first option is called “dig deep” and the second one is called “dig deeper.” Here is a list of features for each mode:

The Common Features 

  • It works with Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, as well as Windows XP. Both 64-bit and 32-bit variants of Windows are supported.
  • Also, it works with Linux.
  • View recoverable files in an array, or as thumbnail previews.
  • Thumbnails show previews of images and album art created from WMA and MP3 files, album art from WMA files, as well as icons of executable files!

And here are the updates for the Android version:

  • The workflow was improved for saving recoverable data back onto local disks.
  • New support for file permissions that were introduced with Android 11. After the start of Disk Digger and pressing either the “Basic Photo Scan” button , or the “Full scan” button it will prompt users to give permissions for access to all files stored on your device. Then, hit on the “Go into settings” button, and then activate the switch that allows permissions. After that, you can go back to the settings to settings then the scanning will start in a sequence.  

Just a quick but important update to Disk Digger for Windows:

In this newest version, you can now scan NTFS compressed files and it will preserve the compression. On a side note, recoverable PostScript documents are also now automatically decompressed prior to them being opened, as are Encapsulated PS files. In fact, there is support in this latest release for old IBM PC-DOS partitions (going all the way back to DOS 2.0 or even earlier than that!) And there’s a brand new feature that lets you map disk mounts onto drive letters so that when you save sessions, they can be accurately resumed at any given time if desired.

It should now be easier to recover compressed files from NTFS partitions. Files which are revealed during a scan that are recognized as compressed will be automatically converted back into their uncompressed counterparts.

We’ve made significant improvements to how we detect different types of compressed files. They will be automatically uncompressed when recovered by Disk Savvy and where possible we show their original sizes.
